Game Modding: Half Life 2

Aimed for ages 12-14. Hands down one of the best first person shooter games of our time is of course Half Life 2. Defending the world from aliens, monsters, and government-experiments-gone-wrong has never been so exhilarating, as our campers would agree. But to make sure that it never gets boring for you, Wonder-Space is offering the Half Life 2 Game Modding course. You'll learn how to access, create, and modify key files in the game which will allow YOU to change any part of the game you think needs some modification. Does jumping a thousand feet into the air sounds good? How about making your own level? Possibilities: Limitless. Apply game design skills in the real world, when you learn how to modify or “mod” one of Wonder-Space’s favorite games!  Campers learn basic mapping strategy, programming, and character modeling by using Valve Entertainment’s Half Life 2 as the platform. Create your own “mod” and watch the entire camp play the game you designed. Campers who choose this course for multiple weeks will explore the Counterstrike and Half Life 2 Source and learn more about game development and modding.

Suggested Pre-requisite: 3-D Game Design, or 2+ weeks of WS Game Design Courses.
